Dear Stargazers,
We are almost out of the eclipse tunnel. As you may know, the eclipse tunnel opens up to us twice (some years even three times) a year during eclipse season. Eclipses occur when the Sun, Moon, and Earth come into precise alignment, where the Moon either blocks the Sun’s light or the Earth casts a shadow over the Moon.
In astrology, eclipses symbolize potent and transformative gateways that can manifest as a series of events, ushering in both beginnings and endings across various aspects of our lives.
It’s completely natural that during this period between two eclipses, we feel a strong urge to withdraw, seek solace in a quiet space, wrap ourselves in blankets, and wait for the return of light. I, too, have been nestled in such a retreat since the beginning of September—not out of sadness or a desire for isolation, but because I felt the pull of creativity and change. When I sense my Venus center awakening, I need to retreat into my own cave, allowing ideas to flow and settle until something sticks. Seeking solitude and stillness is perfectly natural during eclipse season, especially as we navigate transitions between significant life phases.
Eclipses—both lunar and solar—are moments of profound letting go. As the Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh said, “To 'let go' means to release something. This 'something' could be a construct of our mind—an idea, emotion, desire, or belief we've created.” In clinging to these constructs, we risk unhappiness or anxiety. While letting go might be a natural instinct during this time, the first step is recognizing these attachments for what they are.
Last year’s solar eclipse in Libra was a mega powerful one, with its square with Pluto, it marked a significant urge for transformation. Look back to October 2023, and ask yourself: What have you been working on? What have you released? What lessons have you carried through the last year? As we arrive at this eclipse—the last solar eclipse in Libra of this cycle (which won’t repeat for another 18 years)—take a moment to reflect on your growth and transformation. What happens next will be the direct result of your efforts over this past year.
Now, as we face October 2nd solar eclipse in Libra, new opportunities are arising. But, of course, there's a catch. A Saturnian challenge.
The solar eclipse on October 2, 2024 marks the potential for fresh starts, especially in areas of relationships, balance, and harmony—core themes of Libra. However, with the eclipse forming a tense square to Saturn in Pisces, we’re being asked to face the restrictions, boundaries, or responsibilities that might frighten us or hold us back from fully embracing those new beginnings.
While Libra seeks balance and connection, Saturn in Pisces teaches us to confront the sometimes uncomfortable reality that growth requires grounding and commitment. Saturn’s influence brings a sober reminder that while our dreams may be expansive, they need structure to manifest. This square highlights the friction between idealism (Pisces) and the reality check of Saturn, demanding that we honor the process of building something real and sustainable, even if it means facing limitations or needing to compromise.
During this eclipse, you might find yourself reflecting on the balance between freedom and responsibility, flow and structure. Libra asks us to harmonize, but Saturn requires discipline.
If you’re feeling restricted, consider where you might need to create firmer boundaries or put in more focused work. At the same time, notice where you might be holding on too tightly to something that needs to be released.
Some things to reflect on:
What areas of your life are calling for more balance, but feel weighed down by limitations or responsibilities?
How can you bring your dreams down to earth, aligning your ideals (Pisces) with the practicality of Saturn?
What relationships or commitments are evolving, and how can you support them with healthy boundaries or deeper dedication?
Ultimately, this solar eclipse, however challenging it may feel for you, offers a unique chance to recalibrate and lay the groundwork for lasting changes in your life. The tension between Libra’s harmony and Saturn’s structure is here to help you build something that stands the test of time, even if building it it takes patience and persistence.
Remember, eclipses mark turning points. This one encourages you to look back to the past year and step into what’s next with intention and clarity, even if that means breaking up a relationship, releasing a dream, or giving up on an idea you've been clinging onto for too long.
